2006-2007 Project:
This Year's Project Are you hungry for something healthy and different? Well, this year's YEL Project is based on food! The 2006-2007 I-Yel team went all around the city gathering menus and information on various restaurants that used either organic, locally grown, or just healthy ingredients altogether. The initial idea for this year's project was a Healthy Food Trail. After gathering information on the restaurants, the team reduced them to the top 15 places that really had a great environment, great- tasting food, and overall healthy ingredients. With the chosen restuarants, the team then tried to find a line connecting all of the stores. When it was found that various neighborhoods would be excluded, the team changed the project to a HEALTHY FOOD GUIDE! The guide, titled "Bite For Your Rights," aims to reveal some great restaurants that deserve to be recognized for their healthy, organic, or locally grown alernatives. By introducing various restaurants that are sure to fit every craving, the food guide also promotes ideas for a healthy lifestyle. Be sure to check out the guide and think about how you're eating!
YEL Project Mission Statement Eating is a part of our daily routine; to change people must be shown a different trail. The goal of the food guide is to expose various unknown restaurants, help people find healthy alternatives to their everyday food choices and to allow the public to have equal and direst access to these affordable and culturally diverse restaurants. Find out by exploring our scenic city with an open mind, why we should change our food habits and work toward a sustainable and healthy diet. You are what you eat; meaning foods you eat and where they come from should be as diverse and unique as you are. Discover the healthy truth.
