Our Voices and Opinions on Self Conscious (I-YEL 2004):

Why is Self Conscious so important?

"The media will influence you to consume so much and waste a lot of natural resources." ~Carmen Lu

"Cuz without [the natural resources] we can't have the flashy stuff that we wear and we can't see all of that on t.v." ~Antoine Green

"Take the self consciousness and flip it to self confidence and stop consumerism and stop the effects of sweartshops, pollutant clothes, factories - to stop affecting the environment." ~Rita Alcantara

What are we doing in our own lives to be more Self Conscious?

"I had only a couple pairs of blue jeans and there were two of them that were ripped in the washer! I kept on procrastinating about buying another pair and when I finally did (last week) I felt so guilty about it that I promised myself not to buy another article of clothing until the next school year starts!" ~Vivian Twu

"Personally I am helping this cause and making a difference by...sharing my knowledge to my friends and family so that they are aware of what they are doing." ~Maura Blake

Our Voices and Opinions on Renewable Energy Are Posted Here. (I-YEL 2002)

"We only have one world and we simply can not waste it. We have to stop burning fossil fuels, if not for us, then,at least for our chilren. I don't want my kids growing up without the natural resources that we have today. " -Nick Lapis

"I think that we all need to think about what we use and see how we can conserve. Everyone should be thankful for what they have and see how they can change the way they are dependent on everything because we all want everyone to enjoy our beautiful EARTH!!!" -Jennifer Walser

"Saving energy is saving the world for ourselves." -Helen Tran

"Alternative energy, as combined with conservation, is an essential. It is the acts of today becoming the sustainable lifestyles of the future." -Yvea Eaton

"If we keep using fossil fuel as our primary resource, it will run out sooner or later. As for the sake of our children and ourselves, we should strongly promote the use of alternative energy." -Michael Sun

"I YELL for a Change in the way we use our resources." -Ernesto Pepito

What is youth's impact on the environment? (I-YEL 2004)

"Not enough youth know about it [the environment] to know how they're impacting it. If they knew about it, then we could preserve it for future generations." -Dionne Spencer

"If youth put their minds to it, then they can do ANYTHING. Instead of picking up trash off the ground, most youth do the opposite and just...won't go put their litter in the trash or recycle it. I think that if the youth could be shown how to take action, to get together in masses, then we could take over this whole country!" -Cristhian Miranda

"Perhaps these conflicts that plague our environment and our society can become the greater teachers and community builders as we pursue solutions. Unfortunately, we have to grow up awfully fast in order to fulfill it as youth. So, let us grow up together." -Yvea Eaton
